Who's on the Giants 2008 Top 50 Prospects list? San Francisco Dugout tells you!
Justin Leone may have already played one game in his post-injury return to Fresno, but Game 2 was where he made his splash. Splash as in a walk-off three-run home run. Welcome back, Justin! Meanwhile, it's a couple of days off for Augusta and the Rookie Giants, but Connecticut and Salem-Keizer keep the winning going. It's Just Another Day in the Minors!
What's better than a perfect game? Not much. One Giants pitcher missed a perfect game by a home run. The long ball changed fortunes for several teams in Saturday's minor league games, some good, some bad. One home run didn't even have to leave the park to make a difference in one of the games. There were pitching stories too, though none as exciting as a 50th round pick taking that perfect game deep into a game. It's all here in Just Another Day in the Minors!
Fireworks? Well, the bats were going off in Connecticut, where a once (and hopefully future) hot prospect finally landed his fourth, while another got his first. Meanwhile, Fresno had almost no fireworks, or hits, to enjoy....but what a hit that one was. It's Just Another Fourth of July in the Minors!
Tim Lincecum was on SI's cover. He pitched Thursday, and everyone was waiting for a curse. Well, not only did Lincecum win his 10th game, but every team in the Giants' system won! What kind of a curse is that? Fresno got a couple of All-Stars named, San Jose blew a late lead but got it back, and the two short season teams both open up offensively. It's Just Another Cursed Day In The Minors!
