Fresno Grizzlies (AAA): Fresno 3, New Orleans 2
Top Lines:
SS Ivan Ochoa - 2-4, 1 R, 1 SB (6), .264
LF-3B Justin Leone - 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR (9), 2 RBI, 1 BB, 2 SO, .243
1B Scott McClain - 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR (7), 1 RBI, .264
RF Nate Schierholtz - 1-3, 1 3B (3), 1 BB, 2 SO, .304
SP Julio Mateo - 5.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO, 6.75 ERA, W (2-3)
RP Billy Sadler - 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 SO, 1.13 ERA, H (3)
RP Kevin Gryboski - 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 SO, 5.54 ERA, H (2)
RP Alex Hinshaw - 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB 2 SO, 0.66 ERA
Game Notes: Fresno just had six hits, but two home runs pushed them over the edge. Justin Leone had a two-run shot in the first inning, while McClain's solo shot in the 6th gave Fresno the edge they'd need. Leone is on an eight-game hit streak, with four hits during that streak being home runs. Only one game in the streak (the first) has more than one hit. McClain has four home runs in his last four games. Schierholtz has more triples (three) than home runs (two), but is slugging a superb .471 thanks to a high batting average and five doubles.
Mateo has not been consistently effective, going more than 5 2/3 innings just once, but today was one of his better games. He's allowed less than two earned runs just once this season. Sadler had his third hitless game in a row, but has now walked eight batters in his last 11 innings. Hinshaw's fifth straight save was his second game where he allowed no baserunners and struck out two of the three hitters he faced.
Connecticut Defenders (AA): Connecticut 5, Harrisburg 2
Top Lines:
1B Travis Ishikawa - 2-3, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 1 CS (3), .250
RF-LF Carlos Sosa - 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR (3), 1 RBI, 1 BB, 3 SO, .273
SS Olmo Rosario - 1-3, 2 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB, .298
C Adam Witter - 0-3, 1 BB, .208
SP Adam Cowart - 5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 SO, 2.23 ERA, W (2-1)
RP Jason Waddell - 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 SO, 2.50 ERA, H (2)
RP Osiris Matos - 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO, 1.47 ERA, S (1)
Game Notes: Connecticut scattered out five runs on seven hits and seven walks throughout this game, but it was enough to win. The big hit was a fourth inning home run by Sosa, but the Defenders took the lead with Witter hitting into a throwing error with the bases loaded. Ishikawa drew a bases loaded walk in the 7th to bring an insurance run in.
Sosa had two different games with 4 RBI in the previous four games before tonight. Ishikawa is starting to perk up a bit, going 8 for his last 13 with three walks, two doubles and a home run. Witter has watched his average drop for the last couple of weeks, but still has a .370 on-base percentage. Cowart gave up more than one earned run for the first time since April 14th.
San Jose Giants (High-A): San Jose 8, Lake Elsinore 0
Top Lines:
SS Omar Vizquel - 1-2, 2 R, 2 BB, .500
1B Brett Pill - 3-5, 2 R, 1 HR (3), 3 RBI, .216
C Pablo Sandoval - 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 SO, .434
RF Mike Mooney - 3-4, 1 R, 1 2B (2), 1 RBI, .500
2B Matt Downs - 2-3, 1 R, 1 BB, .274
SP Kevin Pucetas - 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 SO, 1.80 ERA, W (5-0)
RP Steven Edlefsen - 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 SO, 2.37 ERA
RP Taylor Wilding - 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO, 4.50 ERA
Game Notes: The big story in San Jose was the rehabilitation of Omar Vizquel, but the team put together a big win to turn around their fortunes. Vizquel, moving from Fresno and getting closer to San Francisco (if in distance and not in level) stayed in the game for four plate appearances and got on base three times. Meanwhile, Kevin Pucetas carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning to get his league-leading fifth win. Pucetas has shut out the opposition in three of his last four outings.
Pill had a big day, but is still slow to pull out of his early season funk, batting just .216. Mooney bounced back from his first hitless game (out of then just five played) with his second double in six games. Sandoval is back on an eight-game hit streak, but hasn't hit an extra-base hit in the month of May. Edlefsen made his first appearance in May. Wilding had given up four earned runs in his last four games before today.
Augusta GreenJackets (Low-A): Augusta 7, Rome 0

LF Garrett Baker - 3-3, 2 R, 1 3B (2), 1 HR (2), 3 RBI, 1 BB, 1 E (2), .222
2B Nick Noonan - 2-5, 2 R, 1 RBI, .290
CF Shane Jordan - 2-5, 2 R, 1 2B (3), 1 SO, .265
DH Brock Bond - 1-4, 1 RBI, .384

RP Joe Paterson - 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 SO, 3.00 ERA
RP Waldis Joaquin - 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 SO, 3.86 ERA
Game Notes: Bumgarner may be beginning to show some of his real potential. Bumgarner set a new season (and career) high with a six inning gem. Bumgarner has now had three starts in a row without allowing a run to score, dropping his ERA from 7.71 to 3.21. Paterson had his first scoreless inning in four games, a streak going back to April 24th. Joaquin has been unscored upon in four of his last five outings.
Baker had another big game, and is now batting .324 in his last 10 games. In particular, he's batting 5 for 7 in the last two games, with four RBI. Noonan has been having a rough time of it in the past couple of weeks, batting just .209 over the last ten games.
