Play Hardball With Posey

Posted in: Majors
45 days are left until the signing deadline for the 2008 draft.  Is it time to start getting alarmed about Buster Posey not signing?  Probably not.  But it is a little disconcerting, considering the sizable demands that Posey's agent was making before the draft.  Should the Giants give in to ensure the signing of one of their most important picks in years?  I say no.

Making a Catch: Giants Select Posey

A lot of people wanted the Giants to take a pure slugger, but the Giants went for overall talent.  And don't call the team cheap!  The Giants selected catcher Buster Posey from Florida State, a versatile all-around player who is one of college's all-around offensive players.  They would go on to shock fans by taking an unprecedented four position players with their first four overall picks.

The Real All-Stars

It's All-Star voting time again, so who will get screwed this year, and who are the stars that really deserve to start for the National League in July? Aaron Rowand is providing plenty of bang for the buck, and the Giants do something they haven't done at home in 28 years. All that and more in this week's edition of the Lunatic Fringe!

Turn Back The Clock

The Giants are in a free fall down the standings. They can't hit their way out of a brown paper bag, and Barry Zito is still winless, but who cares? We have four and a half more months to talk about the shortcomings of this team. For one week anyways, I thought I'd take a look back at some good memories in Giants history.
